Students from Muswellbrook Public School will soon be visiting and entertaining the residents of the Aged Care facility based at Muswellbrook Hospital on a regular basis.
A small troupe of performers will visit the centre on the first Thursday of each month to provide some light entertainment for the residents. A mixture of traditional and modern skits, mimes, poetry, and prepared speeches will form the basis of the entertainment program however it is hoped that dance and musical items can be incorporated at a later date.
"This arrangement is a great opportunity for both our school and the Aged Care facility as it provides our students with an audience to perform for and develop their presentation skills, whilst providing a source of entertainment for the elderly residents of our town," said Mr Crowe (Rel. Deputy Principal)
"The students of Muswellbrook Public have a great deal of talent as demonstrated by their recent success in the local Eisteddfod competition. It is fantastic that the children will be able to share their skills with such as a deserving audience."
The first visit by the students to the Aged Care facility will take place on the morning of Thursday 2nd July and then contniue on the first Thursday of each month.
"The success of this program will be measured by the delight in the faces of both our students and the elderly residents when the children perform," said Mr Crowe. "I am confident that memories will be sparked and smiles will abound."
