For parents and carers of younger children
Discuss with your child how to be safe when:
- walking
- in the car
- waiting for, travelling on, and getting off the bus
- riding bikes, scooters and skateboards.
Also talk about and practise:
- safe travel routes
- plans for when unexpected things happen
- what to do in wet weather.
Subsidised school travel
Transport for NSW provides subsidies to assist school students.
- The School Student Transport Scheme provides eligible students with free or subsidised travel on public transport between home and school.
- The School Drive Subsidy may help towards the costs of driving children to school if you live in an area where there is no public transport.

Driving and parking
The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.
When driving and parking near our school, please:
- ensure you park safely in school zones
- follow speed signs
- do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school.
Parking on school grounds
Parking around Muswellbrook Public School is limited. However, alternative parking options are available on Roger Street, Koombahla Street, Newman Street, and Dumaresq Street. Parents and carers are kindly reminded to observe all signage and adhere to parking restrictions to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow.

Gates
At Muswellbrook Public School, all gates except the front gate on Roger Street will be locked from 9:15 am each day. Gates will be reopened at the end of the school day.
Student collection points for those travelling by car are:
- Front Gate (Roger Street)
- Hall Gate (Newman Street)
- Back Gate / Back Oval Gate (Dumaresq Street)
